Realtor/Broker Data Input Feature - How to Get Started

The LocationOne Information System (LOIS) is now offering a new realtor/broker feature to communities. That is, communities may now allow realtors/brokers to enter building and site information directly into LOIS. There are communities that find populating LOIS with property data and maintaining it challenging. This new capability helps address this problem.

A few key provisions for making use of this feature for communities and their realtors:

  • LocationOne subscribers are responsible for registering realtors/brokers to enter and maintain property listings in LOIS with Aquila, the service provider of LocationOne.
  • Communities that choose to permit brokers to enter property information into LOIS can continue to enter building and site records, but they will need to ensure that they are not entering duplicate information.
  • Any information entered by a realtor/broker cannot be modified by anyone but the realtor/broker.
  • The user names/ids of realtors/brokers that have been approved to enter property information for a community will show up in the community’s LOIS Administration web site within the User Settings tab. (This assumes the community has user edit rights; i.e., communities that have requested and received the LOIS service from a subscriber.
  • If after having given approval to a realtor/broker to enter property information, the community becomes dissatisfied with the realtor/broker’s information, the LOIS user can deactivate the realtor from displaying its information in the community’s web site through the User Settings tab. If the LOIS user/community makes that choice, they should notify their partners that are also using the realtor's data.
  • Realtors/brokers will only have the ability to enter property information. That is, they will not be able to enter and update any information found within the Localities tab in the LOIS Administration web site on the community.
  • There is no fee for this service.

For communities that would like to partner with realtors/brokers and permit them to enter and display their information through economic development web page links to LOIS (state, regional and local), please contact a LOIS subscriber representing your geographic area to register them.  In turn the following will occur:

1) The subscriber will complete a registration form with the realtor/broker information designating communities that have provided approval and will submit it to Aquila’s LocationOne Administrator.  In the case of any county or regional organization requesting user edit rights for one or more realtors, the subscriber will check to assure that communities in that county/region concur with the request. If a community does not agree with the request and prefers to retain exclusive edit rights to the properties in their jurisdiction, the community will be omitted from the realtor’s LOIS user profile.

2) Aquila’s LocationOne Administrator will create a LOIS profile for the realtor. (The profile specifies the communities for whom the user has edit rights.)

3) The Aquila LocationOne Administrator will send an introduction packet along with username and password to the realtor/broker group. The realtor/broker can then go to the LOIS Administration web site, enter its username and password and begin entering property information. Or, the realtor/broker can make use of an XML import service that has recently become available to load its property information into LOIS.
