User Settings - Field Filters for Buildings and Sites

The field filters feature, which is located in the drop down menu under the User Setting tab, allows a user to "automatically" filter building and site records that are entered and shared with them by their economic allies, that do not meet their listing requirements.

The user can automatically filter building and site records from the public using the following criteria:

  • County
  • Building Type
  • Minimum Building Square Feet
  • Minimum Site Acres

This feature is designed to eliminate the need to hide records individually when the user has set standards for publishing.

Field Filters

Here are a few examples of where filtering may be appropriate.

Situation 1

A county economic development organization (representing only one county) has a locality that is located in multiple counties. With that, site and building records from other counties are displaying on their web site through LOIS.
Issue
All building and site records are linked to a locality record. Since this county has view permission to a locality located in multiple counties, all sites and buildings associated with this locality are viewable to the public from their web site. In this scenario, the county does not want to publish building and site records that are not located in their particular county on their web site.
Solution
Field Filters by Counties. Hide All Counties Not Represented by that Organization.

Situation 2

A state economic development organization has view permissions to all buildings located in their state. This organization has made the decision not to display any retail building records on their web site through LOIS.
Issue
Retail buildings can be entered into LOIS at the local level and shared with their state economic development partner. In this scenario, the state economic development organization has view rights to all building types entered into LOIS at the local level including retail buildings.
Solution
Field Filters by Building Type. Hide Retail Buildings under Building Type.

Situation 3

A regional economic development organization has view permissions to all buildings in their region. The organization wants to eliminate buildings in LOIS that do not meet a 10,000 minimum square foot requirement.
Issue
All buildings entered into LOIS are shared with their economic development partners. In this scenario, the regional economic development organization has view rights to all buildings entered into LOIS regardless of size.
Solution
Field Filters by Minimum Square Feet. Set Minimum Criteria at 10,000 Sq. Ft.
