LocationOne has been an essential aspect of our economic development efforts in Lawrence. We have been using the program for over two years and were the first Kansas community to implement the system. Our efforts would not be successful without the program. Previous to the LocationOne sites and buildings database we were using paper brochures of properties available or random electronic brochures supplied by the real estate brokers. We were always uncertain as to if the property was really available and were not able to respond to the client's needs. Now, we have a consistent image of all our properties available and are able to respond in real time. Additionally, LocationOne has allowed us to build great relationships with our local real estate brokers because they know we are marketing their properties since they see them on our website and we provide referral information to them each month. LocationOne is absolutely the most important tool to our economic development program.

The features of the LocationOne property database system has been a tremendous asset to our economic development program. It has allowed us to be more competitive on a global level by promoting local industrial and commercial properties via the web.  It also provides a local database system which is easy to maintain and expands the marketing reach for our local commercial brokers and property owners. New updates and improvements to the system to provide GIS mapping, demographic information, and exportable reports continue to make it a key tool in our economic development toolbox.

"At 4:45 one hectic afternoon I received an RFP from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Because of the LOIS system, I was able to respond to the RFP's site selection consultant in less than 20 minutes. The rapid response was accomplished with an email containing the direct link to the LOIS system that is embedded in the City of Monticello's economic development web pages. LOIS provided the answers to all of the requested data, as well as detailed information about an available property that met the site criteria.

The following morning, I received a call from the developer who mentioned I was the first to respond to the RFP. Since then, the developer has visited our community, spoken to the property owners, and it appears that things are on track for potential new business opportunities in our rural community in East Central Illinois. If not for LOIS, and its seamless integration with our community's recently upgraded website, I would still be responding to RFP's the old-fashioned way. 

LOIS puts all communities, especially those found in rural areas, on a level playing field by giving us the ability to electronically respond to RFP requests."
